PHILIPSBURG – VROMI Minister Miklos Giterson was updated recently on the progress of the Home Repair Program being implemented by the National Recovery Program Bureau (NRPB). The Minister, NRPB Director Claret Connor and Activity Manager Ursel Biabiany visited four of the homes currently under repair in Middle Region, Sucker Garden and Dutch Quarter. The Minister expressed satisfaction of the works done, especially the decision to take into account the individual characteristics of each house and it’s owner. In addition to the basic scope of works, specific needs of the elderly and disabled are being identified, for example the addition of wheelchair ramps and broadening of doorways.
The Home Repair Program is part of the Emergency Recovery Project of the Sint Maarten Trust Fund, which is financed by the Government of the Netherlands, managed by the World Bank and implemented by the National Recovery Program Bureau.
